This button on the top toolbar shows a pop-up dialog box where you can add contours and outlines to polygons.

Select the "Outline around overlapping shapes" tab as in the picture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The picture below shows the result of selecting shapes and clicking the Apply button.

The outline is a single shape. It can be selected and moved. It is drawn behind the selected shapes so it can be filled with colour without hiding them.

Any shapes in the selection that are not overlapping are treated separately.
