Closed paths

 

Select a path with the node select tool and then click on one of the nodes (blue boxes) to select it.

The path splitting button on the top toolbar will now be enabled. Click this to split the path at the selected node.

 

 

 

 

 

It is not apparent that anything has happened until you move the node.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Open paths

With an open shape, the path is split into two separate paths, A and B.

In the image below, the path has been filled to make the result more obvious.
